Two Angels
Pair of large Flamish wooden sculptures , 18th
Pair of large full-length wooden Angels masterfully sculpted in the round in lime wood.
They appear erect in a proud and solemn pose with their imposing wings spread.
They are truly of extraordinary elegance with a particularly elaborate but perfectly realistic movement of the garments without sculptural redundancies and stylistic forcing.
A classic setting prevails with a strong feeling of serenity and balance.
They are two splendid works of the Flemish area carried out in the late 1700s in the middle of the Louis XVI Neoclassical period, by an artist with great sculptural and stylistic skills.
The state of conservation is excellent with a beautiful golden and luminous patina.
