This magnificent 17th century Tuscan canvas depicts the apparition of the Archangel Gabriel in the presence of the Virgin to announce the Great Event of the Immaculate Conception.
The Divine Messenger holds in his right hand the lily symbol of purity and points with his left the white dove, the Holy Spirit, who with a ray of light fulfills the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.
The work presents the characteristics of the most beautiful Tuscan Baroque painting, and takes us directly to the workshop of Pietro da Cortona with the typical bright colors of warm tones always perfectly matched.
The brush strokes are vigorous, free from perfectionism, but extraordinarily effective in reproducing the scene with a remarkable visual effect.
The author, undoubtedly gifted with a fast and precise hand, is able to depict the event effectively, so as to excite the viewer.
This splendid representation was one of the most celebrated creations of the Maestro and was taken up by his workshop with great success, so much so that it became one of the symbolic images of the Annunciation.
The conditions of the painting allow us an optimal reading of the work with a perfectly preserved color scheme and an excellent result on the wall.
The canvas is complete with its beautiful coeval frame, lacquered in faux marble with golden profiles and in excellent condition.
