Important painting on copper depicting "Ecce Homo".
The disfigured face of Christ with the head crowned with thorns in its most traditional image

It is one of the most classic and representative representations of ancient painting, which has seen the great masters from all over Europe try their hand at its realization. Among these, Flemish and Spanish painters stand out for their intensity and dramatic realism.

Our splendid copper is a classic example of sixteenth-century Spanish painting strongly influenced by Flemish art and condenses the pictorial characteristics of these two great schools.

The conditions of the pictorial layer are really excellent with a very fine cret and no drop of color.

It is very rare to find on the market copper paintings of this level, of this period and in this splendid state of conservation. The measure is also very generous for this particular painting technique.

The splendid carved and perforated frame with leaf motifs, gilded in pure gold, increases the beauty and importance of the work.
