Jean-Baptiste Oudry was a French painter particularly known for his naturalistic images of animals and his still lifes of game depicting game.

This splendid canvas, of extraordinary pictorial quality and particularly elaborate, presents a great variety of wild animals and fruits. They are all depicted with incredible miniaturistic precision and with an inimitable skill in rendering the plumage of the birds and the fur of the hare. Some insects also appear painted with exceptional precision.

All the most significant pictorial repertoire of Jean-Baptiste Oudry is highlighted in this important work which is unequivocally attributable to his hand.
The virtuosity in the tip of the brush are typical of his excellent painting which touched the highest points in the representation of the hare always hanging from a lace tied to a hind leg.

The works of Jean-Baptiste Oudry are exhibited in important French and international museums. In Paris, the National Library of France houses a collection of his engravings.

The painting is in excellent condition with an old and well-made rewind.
