Adoration of the Magi

Gréco-crétoise school - XVIIe siècle

A splendid painting on wood depicting the festive and fascinating scene of the Adoration of the Magi in the typical ways of Bassano Venetian painting revisited by the Greco-Cretan culture.

It is a beautiful example of the Venetian influence exerted on its Mediterranean dominions, assembling Venetian art with Byzantine art with a particularly successful result.

Dating back to the second half of the 1600s, it still retains legacies from the previous century and the excellent state of conservation, with very bright and perfectly preserved colours, allows it to be read in every detail.

A very fine crack and a luminous patina give the painting a magnificent wall effect.

The work was created on a single board of Mediterranean fir and therefore free from annoying cracks and deformations.
