Gorgeous large oval canvas depicting a beautiful Young Woman lovingly caring for two children. It is the most classic allegorical interpretation of "Charity" the third of the three Theological Virtues after Faith and Hope which are the cornerstone of Christian morality and behavior.
The work is evidently of exquisite workmanship and expresses with extreme elegance the pictorial characteristics of the Genoese baroque, in particular of Domenico Piola, great interpreter of this important artistic movement.
The beauty of the canvas is highlighted by an extraordinary Baroque frame carved with leafy and gilded motifs that blends perfectly into an impressive ensemble.
