Carved wooden wall sculpture
Italian Baroque Art
Rome, 17th century

Carved walnut
Dimensions: 72 x 72 cm – depth 28 cm
Very good condition

A magnificent depiction of God the Father Almighty, shown with arms outstretched to welcome the souls of believers into His Kingdom.
The figure powerfully conveys His might while remaining deeply engaging and imbued with spirituality.
The artist behind this moving work has succeeded in giving the face of the Eternal Father an expression that is at once stern and infinitely benevolent.
Taking center stage between the Father's arms is the Dove of the Holy Spirit, also depicted with wings spread wide, echoing the central figure's message.
This is a work of great allure and an excellent example of Baroque sculpture from Rome.
It makes a striking visual impact when displayed on a wall.
It is in excellent condition, featuring a splendid patina that envelops and illuminates the light walnut wood.
