We present a splendid and unpublished pair of magnificent Venetian views. They are two autographed canvases by the famous French landscape painter Marc Aldine (Antoine Bouvard), considered one of the most valid illustrators of the Lagoon City of the early 1900s. The two works depict a spectacular image of the Grand Canal and a fascinating scenario featuring the silhouette of the Salute Church taken from a distance from a landing stage. The author expresses his extraordinary pictorial skills in an incomparable way with a magical effect of lights and shadows and with an incredible explosion of colours. The infinite chromatic range creates a fantastic, almost surreal atmosphere, which lends itself well to defining the exceptional characteristics that distinguish Venice and its uniqueness.
The pair of paintings, which constitute a rarity for the French Master's production, match perfectly and are complete with their beautiful original frames which further enhance the enjoyment of the images with an excellent wall effect.
The canvases are intact and in excellent condition without the slightest retouching.

Antoine Bouvard, also known under the pseudonym Marc Aldine, was born in St. Jean-de-Bournay in L'Isère in 1870. He trained as an architect and studied art and architecture under Constant-Dufeus, at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris . He became director of architectural services for the Seine and was responsible for the construction of the Bourse du Travail and the Boulevard Morland in Paris.
His paintings show the artistic influence of Felix Ziem, reflecting his love for Venice with his very personal and extraordinary use of color, capturing in his paintings, the warmth and beauty that the city radiated in the soul of he.
A celebrated painter of Venetian subjects, he worked in the first part of the 20th century, becoming one of the most acclaimed landscape painters of that period. Bouvard's works are expansive and confidently painted, capturing all the atmosphere and glamor of what is considered to be the most glamorous city in the world.
He exhibited his work throughout France and Italy, as well as in many European galleries during his lifetime, but his popularity has continued to the present day.
Bouvard signed his paintings with both his own name and the pseudonym Marc Aldine.
