A Magdalene with an expression full of sweetness is portrayed very young while she, with one hand on the skull symbol of the brevity of earthly life, she lays her gaze on the crucifix in a moment of penance.
The protagonist presents herself in a sober way, without exposing her nudity as is customary, but she conveys a feeling of great modesty. The author of the canvas manages to give a great expressive force to this image with an intense faith.
The characteristics of the painting, however very particular in the features of the face, lead us to place it in the manner of Emilian painting of the '600. The author is part of the large group of talents gravitating around the workshop of Guido Reni.
The work is perfectly relined and is in excellent condition inside an important carved and gilded wooden frame.
