Sainte Catherine d'Alexandrie.

Southern Italy, XVII th century

Sculpture in wood polychrome and silver representing Sainte Catherine d'Alexandrie.

Epoque XVIIe siècle.
Origin: Southern Italy.
Hauteur 140 cm.

Magnificent work of large dimensions sculpted all around and in an excellent manner.

The figure is erected in a solemn pose and the vertical line maintains the canons of the Renaissance.

The movement of the clothes is extraordinary with an incredible sequence of folds and drapes of equal value for the brilliant silver clothes.

The main door is the crown of the princess on her head to stop the long cheekbones that are wavy here on her back.

Her facial expression is truly extraordinary.

The glass eyes are a characteristic of baroque sculpture in the south of Italy and contribute to an impressive realism.

There is evidence of a museum reference work, capable of donning prestige and importance to high-level environments.

The conservation status is excellent.
Professional restoration.
