Oil on canvas
Canvas 52 x 69 cm
Frame 67 x 84 cm
Very good condition
The painting depicts the Archangel Gabriel with a beautiful face captured in profile.
A strong frontal light illuminates the complexions and clothing, creating a striking contrast with the dark background.
The splendid Celestial Creature rests his folded hands on his chest in the foreground, his outstretched wings barely visible in the dim light.
Note the magnificent features of the Protagonist, which the artist captures in a captivating manner, creating a masculine face with decidedly feminine features, resulting in a beautiful Angel without a clearly defined gender, as is traditional.
The work exhibits the stylistic characteristics of 18th-century Emilian painting and the 17th-century Bolognese Masters, particularly in reference to similar works by Elisabetta Sirani.
The painting is still on its original canvas and in excellent condition.
The canvas has been removed from its original fixed stretcher and placed on a new stretcher to taut it.
A beautiful lacquered frame with gold trim perfectly complements the work.
